Happy almost New Year, dear readers! We’re feeling awfully retrospective around these parts, so we thought we’d take this time to revisit our most popular posts of the year. That way if you’re spending the end of 2014 near a computer, you’ll have some fun reading! (We’re always thinking of you. And don’t feel bad — we’re at work too!) So without further ado, let’s check out the best of the best!
Most Popular Excerpt: Without a doubt, the most popular excerpt we featured this year was from Alice Clayton’s The Unidentified Redhead. Living out our celebrity fantasies, perhaps? If you want to check out the steamy scene, between up-and-coming actress Grace Sheridan and younger British superstar Jack Hamilton, click here.
Meanwhile our Most Popular Advanced Excerpts were fan favorites Nalini Singh’s Shield of Winter and Tiffany Reisz’s The Saint.
You all darn near broke our website with our Most Popular Reader Poll, the final round of our Book Boyfriend Smackdown last February, and we love you for it. Outlander‘s Jamie Fraser beat out Karen Marie Moning’s Jericho Barrons from Darkfever for the coveted honor, but what we’ll never understand is how Mark Darcy was so shut out!
You know we love giving away books so much, it’s basically a weekly event for us! But these two contests in particular caught your attention, our Most Popular Giveaways included Gena Showalter’s Angels of the Dark book, Burning Dawn. Everyone wanted that gritty paranormal romance — and to see Thane get his HEA. Also hugely popular were the Smashwords USB drives given out at RT’s convention in NOLA, containing more than 300 ebooks, digitial issues of RT and more!
… and speaking of the covention, our Most Popular Convention Posts included a recap of our Up Close and Personal Conversation with mega popular author Sylvia Day and the overview of the self-publishing workshop with Kristen Ashley and Smashwords Founder Mark Coker, where the two experts talked shop — and shared secrets.
Our Most Popular Cover Reveal was for Amanda Quick’s gorgeous Otherwise Engaged (we still seriously covet that dress).
While some of our Most Popular Features included a look at banned book covers, our favorite genre fiction power couples, our casting of the Beautiful Bastard series — and, because we love you so, a roundup of the six erotica pegging stories you must read.
There you have it! Did we hit some of your favorites, or miss a post you really loved? Sound off below! And join us next year, because who knows what exciting posts 2015 will bring!
