The RT Booklover’s Convention is only a few weeks away! Which means if you’re planning on attending the full week of books, babes (yes, we mean you) and shenanigans, you’ve got some packing to do! With a full schedule of panels, workshops, events — and, of course, parties, one outfit a day may not cut it. So bust out those extra large suitcases, because the RT staff is bringing you their dream outfits for all the awesomeness on the agenda. Today we’re ogling looks chosen by our Senior Editor Jennifer Peters.
When I think of Vintage Vegas, I think of the Rat Pack and ’40s style. But I still want a touch of modern. So I paired this fun and flirty black lace cocktail dress with some authentic 1940s pumps, some matching jewelry and, of course, a vintage Chanel clutch to hold all my winnings. In a look like this, I’ll be able to gamble the night away in comfort and style!
Now, if the bad boys I know in real life are anything to go by, I’m going to need comfortable shoes, because chances are adventures will be afoot. Maybe dancing, maybe running from the cops—you never know! But a sparkly red crop top will add some sex appeal, and the ripped jeans, studded bag and leather bracelets make sure everyone knows not to mess with me or my date.
2015 Reviewers Choice Awards and the Career Achievement Awards — Friday, April 15th, from 7:00 – 9:00 pm
I wanted to keep things classy and classic for the Awards Gala, so I paired this stunning little vintage lace cocktail dress with a pair of classic red heels. Because we’re celebrating romance, I added a cheeky little red-lip bag and a pair of diamond star studs. The dress is super flirty and fun, and I know I’d be able to dance all night in those shoes! Perfect for a night of jumping up and down and cheering for all my favorite authors, and then boogeying down at the after-party.
Books! So many books! To tackle the Giant Book Fair, you really want to be comfy, so I went with a stretchy pair of leggings and a soft, cozy T-shirt that declares my love of books. I added a jacket just in case the air-conditioning gets me chilly—and to have some extra pockets for snacks and pens and swag, because you’re going to want lots of storage—and a pair of sparkly sneakers just to jazz up the look. Then I topped it all off with a bookish tote—it’s both stylish and practical, and will be a huge asset in hauling home all my new books. (Maybe I’ll bring two totes, just to be safe…)
