Forewords — The Books Before the BuzzThe Books Before the Buzz

With our column Forewords, we let readers know the latest book news on some of publishing’s most-anticipated upcoming releases across genres — just as the projects are announced!

Piquing Our Curiosity

Young Adult — We’re intrigued by Mathangi Subramanian’s upcoming Heaven, set in a Bangalore slum by the same name. The tale will follow a diverse group of girls and their teacher, as they deal with gender and caste. Soon from Algonquin.

Young Adult — A cyberstalked high-school advice columnist searches for answers for her to her twin’s murder — putting herself in danger in Lynn Slaughter’s It Could Have Been You (which we’re pretty sure wins for creepy title o’ the week). Winter 2018 from Page Street.

Series News

Romantic Suspense — We’re getting three new books in Jade Chandler’s Jericho Brotherhood world. The new trilogy, Brotherhood Investigations, stars three rough but hot bounty hunters. You will notice our GRABBY HANDS. Soon from Carina!

Contemporary Romance — If it’s sports romance you crave, then you’ll want to don your favorite jersey and root for Kara Sheridan’s new football series, about a social media expert assigned to rehab the reputations of the Alabama Warriors. Easy enough, right? Too bad there’s still major chemistry between her and the QB — her ex. The first of three from Forever Yours.

Mystery — We love a small town, but we just might love a cranky small town most of all. In Lynn Cahoon’s upcoming Tourist Trap series, a coffeehouse/bookstore owner lives in South Cove, California — where the locals aren’t as friendly as they seem … Three books to start soon from Kensington.

Historical Romance — We love a historical romance, and Susanna Craig’s new series has some fresh elements: set in the Georgian era, it will follow Irish siblings as they find love in England. We love a twist! Three books begin soon from Kensington.

Mystery — Susan McBride is set to write a second in her Jo Larsen series. In Walk a Crooked Line, Jo must deal with her dark past as she searches for justice in a case ripped from the headlines. Soon from Thomas Mercer.

Romantic Suspense — Caisey Quinn, writing as Trinity Scott, is penning a new series, Wicked Web, that sounds like our own personal catnip. In the series starter, Blood and Lace, a woman needs an FBI agent’s help after her twin disappears — perhaps at the hand of the Dark Net, a seedy underworld of hackers and criminals. Three books from Pocket Star will begin arriving soon!

Historical Romance — Kristin Vayden will write a new Regency series starring a widow’s club for Lyrical — and a series for Lyrical, Cyler, about love and redemption. We are excited about them all!

Mainstream Fiction — We love discovering new authors so we’ll be keeping our eye out for Alexandra Borowitz’s debut, The Glass Wedding. Starring a Jewish family one week out from their youngest daughter’s wedding, this lit fic title is pitched as This is Where I Leave You meets The Nest, and we would like to read this now, please and thank you. From Mira!
