If You Like, You’ll Love: Holiday Edition with Samantha Chase

It’s December, which means one thing and one thing only: it’s time for us to hunker down, pull out the blanket, and binge watch made-for-TV holiday movies. But what do you do when those movies aren’t enough? Where can you get your holiday romance fix? Why, romance novels of course! To help you get started, bestselling contemporary romance author Samantha Chase has rounded up four made-for-TV movies and paired them with a romance novel for you to try.

Christmas Incorporated: Wealthy curmudgeons have been a Christmas staple since A Christmas Carol. The hero in Christmas Incorporated just happens to be wealthy, grumpy, AND attractive man with a secret heart of gold. The heroine, desperate for a job, becomes his executive assistant and soon shows him the error of his miserly ways.

Snowbound with the CEO by Shannon Stacey is a great pick if CEO plus assistant is your romance catnip. While the hero, Adrian Blackstone, might not be as much of a Scrooge as the one in Christmas Incorporated, the navigation of the hero and heroine from employer/employee to something more is just as delightful to read as it is to watch. As an added bonus, the ever classic “trapped in a snowstorm” trope is thrown in for good measure!

SLEIGH BELLS IN THE SNOW by Sarah MorganNorthpole Open for Christmas: What’s a heroine to do when she inherits a run-down hotel? Renovate and sell it of course! At least, that’s the plan until some of Saint Nick’s elves—and the handsome handyman—start helping her with the renovation. With so much Christmas cheer surrounding her, how can she go through with selling this grand old inn?

Sarah Morgan’s Sleigh Bells in the Snow also features a rundown resort—but this time it’s the hero, Jackson O’Neill, who’s trying to fix it up. He enlists whiz marketer, and holiday weary, Kayla Green to help him put the resort on the map and soon sparks start to fly. Full disclaimer: there aren’t any helpful elves in Sleigh Bells, but I promise that the magic of Christmas still abounds.

THE PRINCE'S CHRISTMAS VOW by Jennifer FayeA Royal Christmas: A Royal Christmas is the ultimate holiday wish-fulfillment movie. What do you mean my European boyfriend is actually a prince? *Sigh* I guess I’ll spend my holidays in his fancy castle becoming a beloved friend to the staff while thawing his mother’s icy heart.

If you love a royal thrown in with your Christmas stories, then The Prince’s Christmas Vow by Jennifer Faye will be right up your alley. The hero, Crown Prince Demetrius Castanavo, doesn’t keep his heritage a secret. But, his elopement with the heroine, Zoe Sarris, is definitely one!

STARRY NIGHT by Debbie MacomberSnow Bride: Take one tabloid reporter on a mission, the son of a famous senator, and a case of mistaken identity and you’ve got Snow Bride. Our heroine is determined to become the editor of her magazine’s new website, but to do so she has to get the scoop on the (potential) upcoming nuptials of one of the late senator’s handsome sons. Of course, this wouldn’t be a Christmas movie if she didn’t fall in love with one of the sons in the process.

No Christmas reading list is complete without Debbie Macomber. She is the queen of the Christmas romance, so much so that there are a number of made-for-TV movies based on her Christmas romances. In this instance, Macomber’s Starry Night is the perfect match for Snow Bride. Determined to meet her editor’s demands and get the interview of a lifetime, Carrie Slayton sets off to interview reclusive bestselling author Finn Dalton. But once she tracks him down and gets to know him, Carrie has to choose between her heart and her head.
