Self-Published Bestsellers: January 2015

So many self-published titles are released each and every day, it’s hard to know which ones are worth your time — and your cash. As always, your RT Web Team is here for you, to help make sense of it all. We’ve scoured the bestseller lists to put together some of the top-selling romance titles that caught our eye this month. Get your TBR list ready!

One Night Stand by JS and Helen Cooper
Genre:
Contemporary
Published: January 2015
The Story: These two masters of self-publishing are going in a new direction, so take note, aspiring authors: they’ve written a complete stand alone, instead of their usual three-part novella. One Night Stand has the standard: one-night-stand-shows-up-later-and-he’s-actually-her … sister’s fiancé! There are many twists as Liv tries to figure out why Xander (aka Mr. Tongue — yes, that is the nickname she gives him) is still trying to get with her — and why she keeps giving in. Bad Liv!

Kaleidoscope Hearts by Claire Contreras
Genre:
Contemporary
Published: January 2015
The Story: Yet another full-length contemporary romance here, this time utilizing the brother’s best friend trope (swoon). Elle is grieving over the death of her fiancé. She moves in with her brother, bringing her into contact once again with her first love, Oliver, who broke her heart years ago. Oliver is a pediatric oncologist, so expect tears along with the sexiness.

The Pact by Karina Halle
Genre:
 Contemporary
Published: January 2015
The Story: Yet another stand-alone contemporary hit the charts this month, making this a bona fide mini-trend! You heard it here first. This time we’ve got the friends-to-lovers trope, starring Linden, a Scottish helicopter pilot. (Yes, you read that right.) He and businesswoman Stephanie have been besties forever, but as neither can find that special someone (Because you know who can’t find dates? Scottish helicopter pilots.) they decide if they make it to 30 without finding the one, they’ll settle down together. Sex, complications and love ensue.

Never, Never by Colleen Hoover Tarryn Fisher
Genre:
 Young Adult
Published: January 2015
The Story: These ladies know YA/New Adult, so it’s no surprise that their collaboration hit the charts. In our first cliffhanger of the month, it’s the story of long time besties and couple Charlize and Silas, who one day lose their memories. (This happens a lot on General Hospital. Usually Helena Cassidine is behind it.) The authors aren’t done with the story yet, so no one’s quite sure what’s happening here, whether it’s a paranormal, suspense — or if indeed Helena is behind it all. You’ll have to wait to find out what’s next! Some snooping on our part (what we do for you, dear reader) suggests part two will be out in May.
