Self-Published Bestsellers: May 2015

So many self-published titles are released each and every day, it’s hard to know which ones are worth your time — and your cash. As always, your RT Web Team is here for you, to help make sense of it all. We’ve scoured the bestseller lists to put together some of the top-selling romance titles that caught our eye this month. Get your TBR list ready!

Pucked by Helena Hunting
Published: May 2015
Genre: Erotica
The Story: Listen, we’re not made of stone. We’re powerless to resist a punny title. And the romance itself sounds funny! Which we also like! Pucked stars Violet, whose stepbrother plays professional hockey. But this is not a stepbrother romance, so Violet instead falls for the team captain, Alex. The heroine has a quirky sense of humor and there’s a ton of sex. Multiple reviews mention how Violet bandies about crude terms for body parts, and reports vary on whether this works or not. If you like bawdy humor, 1. come sit next to us, 2. consider giving this one a try.

The Mistake by Elle Kennedy
May 2015
Genre: New Adult
The Story: Kennedy’s been getting lots of buzz for her New Adult lately, and The Mistake continues her successful streak, following The Deal. Here we’ve got another hockey player (trend alert!), who grovels. A lot. (We know some of you already left to click buy. That’s cool. We’ll wait.) Hockey star and adrift college student John wants to make amends for treating fellow student Grace poorly, and plans to make up for it. Repeatedly. We know.

Mended by Sydney Landon
: May 2015
The Story: It’s the conclusion to Lucian and Lia’s story, so you’ll want to start at the beginning with Pierced (currently free!) and Fractured for the full, dramatic effect. It’s a tale as old as time: he’s a software billionaire, she’s a college student/escort. They’ve had their ups and downs, but Landon brings out all the soapy stops for the finale, as she unleashes Lucian’s legit crazy ex on the couple. Lucian’s frantic to keep everyone he loves safe, and, for serious, we love a frantic hero.

The Kelly Brothers, Books One to Three by Christa McHugh
Bind-up 2015, stories throughout 2014
Genre: Contemporary Romance
The Story: We’ve got three romances here, starting with The Sweetest Seduction, with chef Lia, who will do anything to keep her restaurant’s lease, and Adam Kelly, who wants the location for a celebrity chef. (Disclaimer: we love celebrity chefs and all their related hubris. #sorrynotsorry). Next up we’ve got Breakaway Hearts, which, you guys, stars another hockey player. What the puck. It’s Adam’s brother Ben, recovering from a season-ending injury and finding out about his secret baby. The final Kelly brother is … an Air Force pilot! Did not see that coming. Falling for the Wingman has a Cyrano DeBurgerac twist to it, as Caleb Kelly tries to do right by his letter-writing girlfriend, who kept him alive during his deployment. But just who was writing those letters? There are more Kelly tales to come. What other careers await? Cowboy, surely. Billionaire? Is that a career? Truly, we love contemporary romances, and we can’t wait to find out!
