Self-Published Bestsellers: May 2016

So many self-published titles are released each and every day, it’s hard to know which ones are worth your time — and your cash. As always, I’m here for you, to help make sense of it all. I’ve scoured the bestseller lists to put together some of the top-selling self-published titles that caught my eye this month. Get your TBR list ready!

Desire After Dark by Marie ForceDesire After Dark by Marie Force
Genre:
Contemporary Romance
Published: May 2016
The Story: We’re featuring Marie Force’s Desire After Dark this month in our column because not only has this title hit both the NYT and USA Today lists, it also has one of the best heroine occupations we have ever seen in print: Erin is a lighthouse keeper. A lighthouse keeper. Can you think of a more perfect occupation for a romance heroine, of any subgenre, really? She doesn’t even need the rest of her backstory, which is that her twin died and she’s been unmoored (sorry, sorry, puns are our life) ever since. The hero, pleasingly, is a pilot. So Erin can help guide him. This is amazing. We love it.

Anarchy by Jaymin Eve and Leia Stone

Anarchy by Jaymin Eve and Leia Stone
Published:
May 2016
Genre: Paranormal
The Story: We’re always happy to see a self-published paranormal romance climbing the charts! This second in Eve and Stone’s Hive trilogy has fans abuzz. (We will never stop.) You’ll probably want to start with the first title, Ash. There’s sarcasm and sass (two of our favorite things) as heroine Charlie fights the good fight. The blurb ends with the sentence, “It’s time for a little anarchy,” and we are clicking buy immediately.

Mr. O by Lauren BlakelyMister O by Lauren Blakely
Published:
May 2016
Genre: Contemporary Romance
The Story: We’re suckers for a brother’s best friend romance, and with a title like Mr. O, how could we not be intrigued?! Blakely’s latest hero, the titular Mr. O, is tapped for that old trope, sex lessons for his best friend’s little sister. If we had a dollar … (but we don’t because we buy every best friend’s little sister romance we can find). Told from the hero’s POV, this is a funny, fun time. Recommend!
