Motorcycle Club romances are everywhere, in part thanks to one woman … Kristen Ashley. We love KA’s romances, her alpha heroes and her ability to write super fast, but we wanted to know more. Especially with her latest, Ride Steady, out next week. (Also, we are nosy.) So we asked her to submit to our Unbosoming questionaire. Luckily for us, she agreed!
What was the first book you read that meant something to you?
To Kill A Mockingbird. Blew me away at 13. Blew me away at 16. Blew me away at 24. Just watched the movie with Gregory Peck a month or so ago and sat in the late night dark of my living room, silently crying. Love that book. Also love the movie.
What book do you wish you could live in?
Harry Potter, after He Who Must Not Be Named bit it, preferably. But the world JK Rowling created was beyond extraordinary. Her courageous writing was beyond amazing. And her creation of one of the best heroines in history, Hermione Granger, was a gift to readers for (hopefully) eternity. I would love to spend just one day there. Though, I have walked down Diagon Alley. So at least that’s something.
What book are you an evangelist for?
Any romance. The genre as a whole doesn’t get a lot of respect and I find that supremely annoying. Every time I hear of someone taking a shot at it (which happens way too frequently), white sparks flash in my eyes and I have to do something I’m not good at — practice decorum to try to keep myself from firing off ill-advised responses.
What trope most mirrors your life?
Alas, none of them … yet.
What book has been in your TBR pile the longest?
When I moved back to The States from England, my sister gave me Girl with a Dragon Tattoo and told me I had to read it. I have not read it. It’s been on my nightstand for three years.
If we pulled up next to you at a stoplight, what song would you be shamelessly singing?
I shamelessly play or sing any song I want. I don’t tend to be ashamed of anything I dig. But there’s a 95.567 percent chance it’ll be rock ‘n’ roll.
If your ghost haunted a place, where would it would be?
Wherever the Winchester boys are hunting. I could be their friendly ghost sidekick. No pouring salt on my corpse and burning it! They could use me to help them save the world (repeatedly). I’d have special skills, being able to walk through walls and all.
Who do you want to hug right now?
My kitty, Axl. It’s about half an hour past “treat time” and he’s being very patient with me, waiting for me to haul my booty downstairs to give him his Greenies!
What do you do when you’re feeling discouraged?
Power through. Just keep on keepin’ on. It’s part of life, it’s gonna happen, you just gotta keep your chin up and — onward!
If you could only vacation at one place for the rest of your life, where would it be?
Holy cow. What a terrible thought! Only getting to go one place and never getting to discover new horizons!? Um … um … a beach. A good, sunny beach, wherever that is. Just as long as there’s chilled white wine, excellent seafood, extravagant cocktails and good ice cream close by.
What’s your favorite thing to do with your spare time?
Veg out, kicked back in front of the telly. Or alternately, shopping.
Spike or Angel?
Angel. Tall? Dark? Brooding? Cursed? Are you kidding? Yeah, Angel. Totally.
Ride Steady will be available in stores and online next Tuesday, June 30. In the meantime, why not check out some of our other Unbosoming participants here?
