Your Winter Reading and Cocktail Guide by Jill Shalvis

Accidentally on Purpose by Jill ShalvisIt surely depends on where you live, but at RT HQ, baby, it’s cold outside! And when the temperature dips, you can be sure to find us inside, under a blanket with a good book. Jill Shalvis, whose Accidentally on Purpose is out next week, feels the very same way, and she likes to mix things up by adding a cocktail. An author after our own hearts! Here are Jill’s suggestions for staying warm.

In my opinion, curling up with a book, a blanket and a book boyfriend is one of the best ways to get through a cold, wintery day. So I hope these suggestions keep you warm and keep Jack Frost at bay. Happy reading and drinking!!

Mexican hot chocolate with a shot of tequila and a dash of cayenne pairs perfectly with Susan Mallery‘s next Mischief Bay novel, A Million Little Things. In the book we meet smooth-as-chocolate Miguel Saldivar, who’s ready to convince reluctant widow Pam Eiland that she’s still very much alive.

THE FIXER by HelenKay DimonA cup of Irish Coffee (liberally laced with Baileys!) goes with The Fixer by Helenkay Dimon. In this sexy romance with just the right amount of suspense, the hero Wren is all suited up mysterious intriguing — but beneath it all he’s gooey for Emery generally delicious.

Peppermint Mocha (homemade or from Starbucks, no judgement here) matches with RaeAnne Thayne’s Snowfall on Haven Point. The book is sweet and warm and comforting, perfect for a snowy day … but with a kick. This is just the sort of treat Andie Montgomery might whip up for her neighbor, Sheriff Marshall Bailey, while he recovers from a broken leg.

A Hot Toddy and Miracle on 5th Avenue by Sarah Morgan go together because both the drink and the book are the perfect mix of sugar and spice and everything nice (and not nice …).

MIRACLE ON FIFTH AVENUE by Sarah MorganA classic glass of Eggnog and Colleen Hoover’s It Ends With Us is another perfect match. The drink that thinks it’s a custard pie, and the book that I inhaled as if it were a forbidden dessert!

And last but not least, Mulled Warm Cider goes down extra especially nice with my own Accidentally on Purpose (this is first-hand knowledge as I had a mug while I worked on the last read through!) A little bit bad, a little bit good all mixed together, just my dark, broody hero Archer Hunt and the only woman to ever hold his heart, Elle Wheaton.
