Spring is here, so it’s time to start a new chapter in your publishing journey by submitting your manuscript for publication! This month, we found eight publishers who are currently seeking submissions. There’s a something here for everyone, whether you write science fiction or New Adult, so take a look:
Red Moon Romance — This romance-centric publisher is currently accepting submissions for two anthologies. Editor Cori Vidae is on the hunt for sexy cowboy romances for the Rough Edges anthology, which will be made up of historical and contemporary stories starring alpha males in any pairing. Kinks are welcome, but not required. For the Covalent Bonds collection, Trysh Thompson wants geeky characters who find their happy endings. Come on, who doesn’t love a sexy geek? Learn more about both open calls here.
Interlude Press — Starting June 1, Interlude Press will be open for submissions. For one month only, they’ll be accepting submissions for full-length novels starring LGBTQ characters. Manuscripts must be between 50,000 and 80,000 words long. Curious about Interlude’s submission guidelines and current line-up? Check out their site!
Boroughs Publishing — Boroughs Publishing is hosting a writing contest to find the best romance starring an outsider, whether that be a bad boy or a heroine who goes against the grain. The winner will be offered a contract to publish their submission. The winner will be announced on July 24 during the company’s party at the RWA National Conference. Learn more about the contest here.
Tryst Books — If you’re looking for a home for your sexy New Adult, contemporary romance or women’s fiction manuscript, then Tryst Books may be of interest. The publisher is actively accepting submissions for fresh and exciting stories, whether they’re novellas or full-length pieces. Torque Press — Looking to take your first step in publishing? Why not start by submitting a short story to one of Torque Press’s monthly anthologies? Each month has a different theme, so be sure to check their website to make sure you’re writing within the correct theme. All stories must feature LGBT characters and romance elements.
Baen Books — Science fiction and fantasy publisher Baen Books accepts submissions from writers whose works include strong plots and carefully constructed and executed scientific or fantasy elements. Writers must submit their manuscripts via the company’s online submission form and all manuscripts must range from 100,000 – 130,000 words in length.
Brain Mill Press — Brain Mill Press has opened its doors for their 2015 Driftless Unsolicited Novella contest. Writers may submit novella-length submissions (20,000 – 40,000 words) in any genre, including romance, suspense or mainstream fiction. This year’s theme is “over.” The entry fee is $25, which includes a one-year Brain Mills Press membership. The winner will win $250, a publishing contract and royalties from their winning novella. The deadline is June 1, so hop to it and learn more about the contest here.
