You probably already love Kristen Callihan‘s awesome, inventive, interesting, genre-bending historical paranormals, right? You’re also probably excited about her latest release, Soulbound, an RT Top Pick!, out now. But did you know how much Kristen loves Harry Potter? No? Then you’d best read on …
What was the first book you read that meant something to you?
The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. It was the first book I read on my own, the first time I really got sucked down into a story. I was hooked.
What book do you wish you could live in?
Harry Potter. But only if I could be a wizard.
What book are you an evangelist for?
Romance. The genre is still misunderstood by a great many people. I aim to convert them, one book lover at a time.
Which trope most mirrors your life?
Best friend’s brother — because I married him. The brother, that is.
What book has been in your TBR pile the longest?
I’d go look, but then the whole pile might topple and I’d be buried alive.
If we pulled up next to you at a stoplight, what song would you be shamelessly singing?
Any song that’s playing. I’m a diehard car signer.
If your ghost haunted a place, where would it be?
Times Square. I love to people watch and it would never truly be empty. I’d turn up as a pale spot of light in tourists’ pictures.
Who do you want to hug right now?
My kids. I always want to hug them.
What do you do when you’re feeling discouraged?
Give myself a pep talk. Life will have low points and you have to tell yourself that this too shall pass, that you’re more than just a bad situation.
If you could only vacation at one place for the rest of your life, where would it be?
Does Europe count as “one” place? Heh. Hmm … I suppose it would be the beach. There’s something about the ocean that both revives and relaxes.
What’s your favorite thing to do with your spare time?
Read. Read. Read. Take away my books and you take away my joy.
Spike or Angel?
Spike. Better one-liners. And there’s the whole anti-hero, bad boy thing.
