We’re big Megan Hart fans here at RT, last year we gave her our coveted Book of the Year for her gripping Tear You Apart. So of course we were excited about her new title, Lovely Wild, the story of a woman forced to deal with her fractured childhood. To show our appreciation, we made her submit to our Unbosoming Questionnaire. Lucky for everyone involved, she acquiesced.
What was the first book you read that meant something to you?
This Is the House That Jack built is the first “book” I remember reading aloud, all by myself. It started me on the path to reading! The first book I can remember reading that really just blew me away was also a short story, “Homecoming” by Ray Bradbury. I loved that story so much I decided I wanted to read it over and over, so I copied it onto a notepad by hand. But I then “improved” it. So that’s when I figured out I probably wanted to be a writer, too.
What book do you wish you could live in?
Kushiel’s Dart by Jacqueline Carey. Didn’t even have to think twice about that one.
What book are you an evangelist for?
Kushiel’s Dart (and the entire series), Swan Song by Robert McCammon and more recently, Those Across the River by Christopher Buehlman.
Which trope most mirrors your life?
Umm…sassy, quirky heroine meets tall dark handsome and broody bazillionaire on a secret island with an amnesiac baby. No. That doesn’t sound right. Um. May/December romance, I guess if you want to be technical.
What book has been in your TBR pile the longest?
I refuse to answer this on the grounds that it may incriminate me.
If we pulled up next to you at a stoplight, what song would you be shamelessly singing?
Right now? “Rather Be” by Clean Bandit. Throughout history? “Back in Black” by AC/DC or perhaps “Enter Sandman” by Metallica.
If your ghost haunted a place, where would it be?
YOUR BEDROOM BWAHAHAHA. Actually I think my ghost would haunt the internet, mostly on Twitter, leaving obscure tweets in your timeline you’d assume were a virus or spam but no, they’d be me, trying to contact you from beyond the veil.
Who do you want to hug right now?
Oh, no, never. Gross. No hugs.
What do you do when you’re feeling discouraged?
I play music really loud and sing along and sometimes I take a long hot shower and sing in there.
If you could only vacation at one place for the rest of your life, where would it be?
Bethany Beach, Delaware
What’s your favorite thing to do with your spare time?
Sleep. Watch movies. Read. Eat things.
Spike or Angel?
Can I answer Dean or Spock?
